Maikaba: Flying Eagles Out For Revenge Against Burkina Faso in WAFU B Final
Head coach of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, Abdu Maikaba, says his team is fired up to avenge their group stage defeat to Burkina Faso when both sides meet in the final of the WAFU B U-20 Championship.
The final is slated for Sunday at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire. The game will also decide the second WAFU B representative to join Ghana at the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Burkina Faso beat Nigeria 2-0 in their last group game, but Maikaba believes his boys have learned their lessons.
“I think this is an opportunity for us to redeem ourselves having lost to Burkina Faso in the group stage. Having played them before, we now have an idea of their shape and structure and we are working on how to capitalize on their weaknesses, while also consolidating on our own strength,” Maikaba told thenff.com.
The much-anticipated final is scheduled to kick off by 7pm Nigerian time.
