Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims in Plateau
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued two kidnap victims in separate operations carried out in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Oteh.

According to the statement, the operations were part of deliberate efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action across the state.

Captain Oteh said the first rescue took place at about 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 25, when troops of Sector 3 deployed in Bassa LGA, acting on credible information about the kidnap of one Mr. Ndubuisi Onuigbo, launched a search and rescue operation and successfully rescued the victim.

In a second operation in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, troops of Sector 2 deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam LGA encountered suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol.

The troops pursued the suspects aggressively, forcing the gunmen to flee and abandon their victim, identified as Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who was immediately rescued.

The statement added that both rescued victims have been debriefed and have been reunited with their families.

The Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive action in disrupting criminal activities.

He also appealed to residents to remain calm and continue to support security agencies with credible information to enable troops to restore lasting peace in Plateau State.
