I’ll Rather Chew Grass Than Bite Portable – Charles Okocha
Nollywood actor Charles Okocha has strongly denied allegations that he bit singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, during their celebrity boxing rematch.
Okocha, speaking at AY and Akpororo’s comedy night and also on TVC Entertainment, dismissed Portable’s claim that he was bitten on the back and put in a neck lock during their fight tagged “Unfinished Business”.
The bout, which held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, had ended in chaos after both fighters got into a wrestling-like scuffle that forced security officials to intervene. Portable walked out of the ring, was booed by fans, brought back and later disqualified, giving Okocha the victory.
Portable later released a diss track accusing Okocha of choking and biting him and criticizing the referee for turning away during the scuffle.
Reacting, Okocha said it was impossible for him to have bitten Portable because he wore a mouth guard throughout the fight.
“Portable has been going around telling people I bit him on the back. I was wearing a mouth guard; how is that even possible? He was just lying,” Okocha said.
“I would rather chew grass than bite him. I do not want to catch rabies. Have you seen how Portable’s skin looks? Hell no, I would not do that. He should just accept defeat.”
This marks Portable’s second straight loss in the celebrity boxing ring, after losing to Carter Efe by unanimous decision on May 1 at the same venue. After that fight, the singer revealed he was paid N50m for lasting one round.
