Nigerian writer and social commentator, Solomon Buchi, has criticized parents who create Instagram pages for their young children.

According to Buchi, the practice of parents opening accounts in their children’s names and then using those accounts to comment on their own posts as if the child made the comment is disturbing.

He wrote:
“It’s a mental illness to open an Instagram page for your child and use it to comment on your post like it’s the child.”
His statement has generated mixed reactions on X (formerly Twitter). While some users agreed with him, others felt his choice of words was too harsh.

Reacting to the post, @MuokaFrancis4 said, “Some people in this country are not mentally okay. I think it’s only me that gets irritated by such.”

Another user, @abolarin_sa, commented: “I think it’s true. It even pose an act of impersonation.”
