2027: Obi Can’t Defeat Tinubu Alone, Will Be ‘Eaten Like Biscuits’ – Kenneth Okonkwo
Former spokesperson for the Labour Party presidential campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo, has said that Mr. Peter Obi has no chance of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if he contests alone.

Speaking in an interview with Ibeju Upgrade Media, Okonkwo argued that the only way for the opposition to unseat the incumbent is through a united coalition with a single candidate.

He stated that President Tinubu has already shown that he sees power as something to be fought for and grabbed, and therefore cannot be defeated by a fragmented opposition.

According to him, even if Obi picks former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as his running mate, it would still not be enough to secure victory.

Okonkwo questioned Obi’s acceptability in the North, particularly in Kano State, pointing to his poor performance there in the 2023 election.

“So, if Peter Obi goes against Tinubu alone, Tinubu will eat him like biscuits. Will Kano people accept Peter Obi? In 2023, when we had the opportunity, they did not accept him. In 2027, they will not accept him,” he said.

He also claimed that Kwankwaso himself has lost political relevance in Kano and would not add much value to the ticket.

His remarks come as opposition figures continue talks on forming a broad alliance ahead of the 2027 polls.
