Super Eagles to Face Russia Again in October Friendly
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on Russia in an international friendly match scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the fixture on its official X handle on Tuesday, describing it as the second meeting between both nations in 16 months.

According to the NFF, the match was confirmed by Nigeria’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodatasport.

Both teams last met in June 2025 in Moscow, where they played out a 1-1 draw. Russia had taken the lead in the 27th minute through an own goal by Nigeria’s Semi Ajayi, before Tolu Arokodare equalised for Nigeria in the 71st minute.

The Russian side dominated that encounter with 58% possession and 10 shots compared to Nigeria’s six.

Russia, which has been barred from official FIFA and UEFA competitions since 2022, has been keeping active through friendly games against various national teams, including several African nations.

The upcoming fixture will serve as another opportunity for both teams to test their squads ahead of future international engagements.
