Mavo Faces Backlash After Liking Comment That Calls Davido “Slovido”

Fast-rising Nigerian singer Mavo is currently trending on social media after he liked a comment that shaded Afrobeats superstar Davido.

The drama started under a post about Mavo’s music, where a fan wrote, “At least the verse better pass slovido own” — using a mocking nickname for Davido. Mavo’s official account was spotted liking the comment, which many fans interpreted as him agreeing with the shade.

The action has since sparked mixed reactions online. While some netizens accused Mavo of disrespecting his senior colleague — especially after collaborating with Davido on the remix of his hit song “Shakabulizzy” — others defended him, saying a like does not automatically mean endorsement and fans are fond of creating unnecessary rifts between artists.

As of press time, Mavo has not issued any statement regarding the incident.
