Peter Obi Denies Seeking Campaign Funds in US, Dares Critics to Show Proof
Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed claims that his current trip to the United States is to solicit campaign funds from Nigerians in the diaspora for his 2027 presidential ambition.
Obi made the clarification while reacting to allegations circulating online that he was in America to raise money.
The former Anambra State governor challenged anyone with evidence that he received money abroad to come forward, stating that he would end his 2027 campaign if such proof is provided.
According to him, he is funding his trips and activities with his personal resources.
“People are saying that on my current trip to America, I have gone there to collect money from Nigerians in the diaspora. If anyone can show me one person in America who gave me even one dollar, I will end my 2027 campaign. I am using my own resources and paying all my bills. I am running around the world, trying to do the right thing,” Obi said.
His statement has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with supporters praising his integrity while critics questioned the need for such a challenge.
