Arsenal Set to Raise Bid for Newcastle Captain Bruno Guimarães
Arsenal are preparing an improved offer for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães as they intensify efforts to sign the Brazilian midfielder this summer.
This comes after the Gunners saw an initial bid of around £70 million rejected by Newcastle. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who disclosed this on X on Sunday, Arsenal will reopen club-to-club negotiations next week.
“Arsenal set for new club to club contacts next week for Bruno Guimarães deal. Personal terms in place and new approach with Newcastle anticipated to proceed + £70m proposal expected to be improved. Deal depends on Newcastle United’s decision on exit/price,” Romano posted.
Personal terms with the 28-year-old are already understood to have been agreed, leaving a fee agreement between both Premier League clubs as the final obstacle.
Arsenal are keen to add the Brazil international to Mikel Arteta’s midfield as they look to strengthen ahead of the new Premier League season. However, any deal will depend on Newcastle’s valuation and willingness to sell one of their most influential players, who still has two years left on his contract at St James’ Park.
Reports from the UK on Wednesday [Aug 6] also suggest Arsenal have now agreed a £75 million ($99.5m) deal with Newcastle according to Sky Sports.
