15-Year-Old Housemaid Rescued After Allegedly Being Locked In Toilet For Months In Abuloma, Rivers State
A 15-year-old housemaid identified as Amarachi has been rescued after allegedly being locked inside a toilet for months by her employers in Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to reports, the teenager who hails from Ebonyi State was working as a maid for a couple identified as Eze Simeon and his wife. She was allegedly confined inside the toilet as punishment after she was accused of committing an offence.

It was alleged that during the period of confinement, she was subjected to severe neglect and was fed only once daily with leftover food.

She reportedly raised an alarm on Monday, September 15, 2026, when the couple left the house. Neighbours who heard her cries for help alerted officers at the Abuloma Police Division, who then stormed the residence and rescued her.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians calling for the couple to be arrested and prosecuted for child abuse and unlawful confinement.

Police are yet to release an official statement on the incident as of press time.
