2027: NDC to Crowdfund Campaign With N1,000 Donations From Nigerians – Dickson
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is planning to fund its 2027 election campaign through small donations from ordinary Nigerians, according to its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson.

Dickson made this known on Wednesday while speaking on Arise News Prime Time. He said the party will call on Nigerians to support its activities with as little as N1,000 or N2,000.

According to him, the model is designed to break the grip of wealthy political financiers on Nigeria’s democracy.

“You cannot allow your democracy to be funded by moneybags and billionaires who are now trillionaires using government resources. You will continue to be oppressed,” Dickson said.

“We want a process by which Nigerians, ordinary Nigerians, can contribute N1,000, N2,000, as it happens all over the world,” he added.

He described the NDC as the only party in the country not funded through government treasury and said the party wants to give poor and oppressed Nigerians a chance to own the democratic process.

On preparations for 2027, Dickson revealed that consultations are still ongoing for the party’s presidential campaign council. He said the list will only be made public after consultations are concluded to avoid the mistake of publishing and later withdrawing it, as done by the ruling party.

He also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure the 2027 polls are free, fair and credible, noting that the NDC will campaign vigorously in every part of the country.

“We will take our case to the Nigerian people, and every vote will be fought for. Every vote will be contested,” he said.

His remarks come a day after the NDC dismissed allegations of illegal payments tied to its candidate selection process. National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, had described the claims as deliberate misinformation by disgruntled elements and denied that Dickson demanded money from aspirants.
