2027: Shun Empty Promises, Hate Speech — David Mark Charges ADC Gov Candidates
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has warned the party’s governorship candidates against engaging in empty promises, hate speech and divisive politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mark gave the warning on Monday in Abuja during a consultative meeting with the party’s gubernatorial flagbearers.

According to a statement by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the former Senate President urged the candidates to run issue-based campaigns that reflect the party’s values and not make pledges they cannot fulfil when elected.

He charged them to study and align their campaigns with the ADC manifesto and its governance blueprint, the “Orange Book”, which outlines the party’s ethical and developmental principles.

“We are ADC. Our campaign must reflect the kind of country that we would like to build. Avoid hate speech, ethnic or religious profiling. We cannot be associated with violence in whatever form. Unlike the ruling party and the President, ADC does not believe that all is fair in politics,” Mark said.

In their responses, the governorship candidates thanked the party leadership for the platform and pledged to conduct credible campaigns that would boost the party’s image.

The candidates also declared support for the ADC and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on his plan to make reduction in the cost of living the central focus of the 2027 campaign.

They particularly endorsed the party’s proposal to restore petrol subsidy as a measure to reduce the pump price of fuel and lessen economic hardship on Nigerians, while pledging loyalty to work for the party’s victory in their respective states.
