Carter Efe Opens Up On Why He Quit Relationship Content With Ex-Girlfriend
Nigerian skitmaker and streamer, Carter Efe has opened up on the real reason he stopped creating relationship content with his ex-girlfriend.
Speaking in a recent episode of the Cocktails & Takeaways podcast with Madame Joyce, Carter revealed that the pressure to appear happy online while dealing with private conflicts started to affect his mental health.
According to him, there were times he would cry and have serious arguments with his ex before facing the camera to act like a happy couple for content.
He said:
“I’m a smart boy. God gave me brain. I know say this thing go take my life. There was a time I could not do content if I don’t see my woman.”
Carter explained that his content became too dependent on his relationship, and he later realized he needed to separate his personal identity and success from it.
“You don’t have to attach me to anyone. Like don’t attach my glory also to someone else.”
He added that fans often pressured them to appear together even when they were quarreling, which made things worse.
“Some people don’t even care, even when you people are quarrelling, they will say they want two of you together in that video. I have to use my own brain and say no.”
On the emotional toll, he said:
“Do you know how many times I’ll cry before we shoot? We’ll fight, fight, fight before we start content, before we even shoot, before we face camera. We will now do post then a lot of people will now be saying love, love, love, love. Four thousand comments, five thousand comments. I was tired because behind scene is crazy. Your mental health is going.”
Carter also noted that disagreements over content ideas often led to more tension between them, and he questioned how sustainable it was to keep deceiving people for years.
“The woman will be saying she does not want this, you will be saying you want this, she will be saying no, this is the right one. Issue… But for real is that what we want to do for years? No, you can’t deceive people for years.”
