Charles Inojie Defends Peter Obi’s Exit From Benue: “True Courage Is Knowing When Not To Fight”
Veteran Nollywood actor, Charles Inojie, has thrown his weight behind former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following the controversy over Obi’s aborted trip to Benue State.

Obi was reportedly blocked from entering the state by suspected armed thugs, forcing him to turn back.

The incident sparked mixed reactions online. Social commentator Isaac Fayose, in a video shared on September 8, 2026, criticized Obi’s decision to leave without confrontation, arguing that Nigeria needs a leader who is ready to “fight fire with fire” if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to be defeated.

Reacting in the comment section of the video, Inojie disagreed. He described Obi’s decision as an act of wisdom, not weakness.
“Wisdom. Nigeria needs Peter Obi alive. Indeed, true courage is knowing when not to fight,” Inojie wrote.
The actor also took a swipe at Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, questioning his handling of insecurity in the state. Inojie accused the governor of failing to deploy security forces against bandits and herdsmen responsible for killings in Benue, yet appearing pleased that Obi, whom he described as a “harmless man,” was prevented from entering.

He noted that despite being turned away from Benue, Obi still traveled to Jos on the same day to commiserate with Nigerians displaced by insurgency.

“Trust me, the joke is on Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia,” he added.

The comment has since generated mixed reactions from Nigerians online, with some agreeing that discretion is the better part of valour, while others argue that power must be fought for aggressively.
