Doctor Cries Out Over Rising Cost of Living in Nigeria
A Nigerian medical doctor has stirred reactions on social media after opening up about the financial hardship she is experiencing despite belonging to one of the most respected professions.

In a post that has now gone viral, the doctor expressed deep frustration over Nigeria’s current economic situation, noting that the rising cost of living has forced her to rethink basic lifestyle decisions.

According to her, she recently found herself calculating whether she would be able to afford her gym subscription for the next month. Even buying Greek yoghurt, she said, now feels like a financial decision that requires serious thought.
“I hate this country so much. I hate everything about it. I’m a freaking doctor but I’m here debating if I can afford to pay for the gym next month. I’m debating if buying Greek yoghurt is a good idea or a financial mistake,” she lamented.
She further revealed how careful she has become with her spending, stating that it has been two weeks since she last drank Malta Guinness, a popular malt drink she enjoys.

Her honest confession has resonated with many Nigerians online, especially young professionals who say they are also struggling to maintain a decent standard of living amid soaring inflation, high food prices, and increased household expenses.

The post has once again sparked a broader conversation about the financial realities facing middle-class earners in Nigeria and how the current economic challenges are affecting even those with stable careers.
