Fave Reveals Why She Left Atlantic Records
Nigerian singer Fave has revealed why she parted ways with international label Atlantic Records, citing insufficient promotion for her music.
Speaking in a recent interview making rounds online, the “Baby Riddim” crooner said she felt her projects were not getting enough push from the label.
She explained that she understood the importance of heavy financial investment in music promotion after learning about the amount reportedly spent on promoting Rema’s global hit ‘Calm Down’.
According to Fave, she was shocked when she heard that Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, reportedly spent $5 million to promote the song. While the figure initially seemed huge to her, industry conversations made her realize that such an amount is considered relatively small on a global scale.
In her words:
“I left Atlantic Records because they weren’t promoting my music enough. When I heard Don Jazzy spent $5M promoting Rema’s ‘Calm Down,’ I was going crazy. That’s a lot of money! But when I spoke to people in the industry, they said it wasn’t a lot.”
Her revelation has since sparked mixed reactions online, with fans debating label investment in female artistes.
