FIFA Launches New Leadership Training for Club Executives and Players
World football governing body, FIFA, has unveiled the latest editions of its professional development programmes – the fourth edition of the FIFA Diploma in Club Management and the second edition of the FIFA Players Executive Programme.

Both 18-month programmes are scheduled to run from November 2026 to April 2028 and are designed to strengthen leadership and management capacity across global football. The courses will bring together club executives, active and retired players, and coaches through a blend of online learning, optional in-person sessions, club visits and behind-the-scenes experiences at clubs worldwide.

According to FIFA’s Director of Professional Football Relations and Development, Ornella Desirée Bellia, the programmes reflect FIFA’s commitment to developing key stakeholders in the game. She noted that through knowledge-sharing and a global network, participants will be equipped with tools to drive the professionalisation and growth of football.

The Diploma in Club Management is targeted at club executives and former international players and coaches in managerial roles. It covers six key areas including leadership and management, governance and legal matters, finance, marketing and communication, club operations and stadium management, as well as sporting strategy and youth academies. Graduates also join the FIFA Club Management Network.

The Players Executive Programme is tailored for active and retired professional players and coaches transitioning into leadership roles. Its five core modules focus on football management, physical and mental well-being, financial planning, personal branding and communication, and philanthropy.

FIFA Deputy Chief Member Associations Officer, Gelson Fernandes, stressed that strong clubs and the continued involvement of former players are vital to football development. FIFA disclosed that the programmes have already built a global alumni community with participants from 57 nationalities and 155 clubs across 55 countries, representing all six confederations.
