Ghana Make Fresh Move For Crystal Palace Striker Eddie Nketiah
The Ghana Football Association has reportedly made a fresh approach to Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah over switching his international allegiance from England.

According to a report by Standard Sport on Thursday, the 27-year-old is currently considering the offer but is yet to make a final decision on representing Ghana, the country of his parents’ birth.

Nketiah, who was born in Lewisham, South London to Ghanaian parents, represented England at youth level and is the country’s all-time top scorer at U-21 level.

He earned his only senior cap for England in October 2023, when he came on as a 73rd-minute substitute for Ollie Watkins in a 1-0 friendly win over Australia at Wembley.

Because he has only one senior appearance in a friendly, he remains eligible to switch to Ghana under FIFA’s eligibility rules.

Ghana are said to be keen to add Nketiah to their attacking options, which already includes Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Coventry City midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.

Nketiah, who joined Palace from Arsenal, has started all three of Crystal Palace’s Premier League games this season under new manager Pierre Sage, following an injury-hit campaign last season.

Standard Sport notes that Ghana have held a long-standing interest in the striker and have made another attempt to convince him to play for the Black Stars.
