Gov Otu Celebrates VP Shettima at 60, Hails His Legacy of Service

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has joined Nigerians in celebrating Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as a statesman whose life embodies excellence, service and nation-building.

In a goodwill message released through his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, Governor Otu conveyed the felicitations of the Government and people of Cross River State to the Vice President.

Otu said Shettima’s 60th birthday provides an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on a life defined by “remarkable accomplishments, uncommon courage and enduring patriotic service.”

He noted that the Vice President’s rise from the banking sector to Nigeria’s second-highest office is inspiring, describing it as “a remarkable odyssey defined by discipline, astuteness, enterprise and an abiding commitment to the greater good.”

According to the Governor, Shettima’s background in banking equipped him with strong expertise in financial management and strategic leadership, which has continued to shape his public service career.

He also lauded Shettima’s stewardship in Borno State and at the national level, saying his leadership demonstrates “intellectual sophistication, courage of conviction and a profound understanding of the complexities of governance.”

Otu described Shettima as “a patriot of considerable depth and a statesman whose contributions transcend the boundaries of political office,” adding that his commitment to national unity, economic growth and institutional development has earned him respect across divides.

The Governor prayed for the Vice President, asking Almighty Allah to grant him good health, wisdom, renewed strength and divine grace to continue serving the nation, and wished him greater peace and fulfilment in the years ahead.
