Championship-turned-Premier League side Hull City have terminated the contract of Nigerian winger David Akintola by mutual consent to allow him complete a permanent move to Cypriot club Omonoia FC.

The 30-year-old only joined the Tigers in August 2025 from Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor and went on to make 21 appearances in the 2025/26 season.

During that campaign, Akintola scored once and provided two assists as Hull City secured promotion to the Premier League. He made his debut as a substitute in the 3-2 home win over Oxford United in August 2025 and also featured for the club in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Prior to his move to England, the Nigerian had spells in Turkey with Adana Demirspor and Hatayspor, as well as stints in Norway and Cyprus.

Confirming his exit on Thursday, Hull City thanked the winger for his service.

“We would like to thank David for his efforts throughout his time at the MKM Stadium and wish him well for the future,” the club said in a statement on its X handle.

His departure now paves the way for a return to Cyprus to finalize his transfer to Omonoia FC, as Hull prepare for life in the Premier League.
