Lagos Govt Debunks Viral Video Claiming Occupation Under Oja Oba Bridge

The Lagos State Government has dismissed a viral video circulating online that claims people are currently living under the Oja Oba Bridge, describing it as old and misleading.

The clarification was made by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on X on Thursday, after his attention was drawn to the footage.

According to Wahab, the video being shared is not recent.

“I wish to clarify that the video is an old recording, taken approximately two years ago, and does not reflect the current situation at the location,” he stated.

The commissioner called on bloggers, influencers and media platforms to verify information before publishing, warning that sharing outdated content can cause unnecessary panic.

“The circulation of outdated or misleading content can create unnecessary public concern and place undue pressure on government agencies and officials who work tirelessly, often around the clock, to protect and maintain our environment,” he said.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to keeping Lagos clean, safe and environmentally sustainable, and urged residents to support the effort by sharing only accurate and verified information.

In recent years, the Lagos government has intensified clearance operations under bridges across the state as part of its environmental and security enforcement drive.
