Mr Jollof Claims Burna Boy’s Team Turned Down $1M Booking Offer, Says “It’s Not By Being Big On The Internet”
Nigerian comedian, Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, has claimed that an attempt to book Grammy-winning star Burna Boy for a concert in Nigeria was rejected.
According to Mr Jollof, he and a group of investors approached Burna Boy’s team with a $1 million offer — estimated at about N1.3 billion — to headline a show, but the offer was turned down for being too small.
Speaking on the alleged development, the comedian said the incident shows that real-life success goes beyond internet popularity.
“It’s not by being big on the internet, you have to show workings in REAL LIFE!” he said.
The claim has since stirred mixed reactions on social media. While some users argued that Burna Boy has attained a global status that justifies fees above $1 million, others questioned the details surrounding the booking attempt.
One user wrote, “That’s a whole lot of money. But I think Burna Boy have outgrown that one million dollar offer. Odogwu is on another level.” Another added, “$1M for a show in Warri and Burna’s team said ‘too small.’ The man really left the Nigerian lane for real.”
As of the time of filing this report, Burna Boy and his management team are yet to publicly respond to the claim.
