Nigerians React As Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo Launches Christian Matchmaking Platform With N700k Fee
Popular relationship coach and lead pastor of David’s Christian Centre, Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, has stirred reactions online following the launch of his Christian matchmaking platform, Mentor To Marry.
The cleric announced the platform on X on August 25, 2025, describing it as a faith-based community for Christian singles who are intentional about finding God-centered marriages.
Unlike conventional dating apps, Mentor To Marry is built around mentorship and personal development. Prospective members are required to go through eight weeks of mentoring sessions, complete personal assessments, and participate in guided reflections before they can access matchmaking services.
The platform, run by Love, Dating and Marriage Ministries, a Nigerian non-profit, is targeted at Christians aged 25 and above who are single, divorced, or widowed. It also offers a free community option for those not ready to pay.
For paid users, there are three annual plans: Regular for N70,000, Premium for N350,000, and VIP for N700,000. The VIP package offers extra perks including a dedicated matchmaker and personal coach, priority access to the platform’s founders, and introductions outside the platform.
The platform notes that membership does not guarantee marriage and has strict rules against harassment, fraud, catfishing, and sexually explicit content.
Despite the stated mission, the pricing — especially the N700,000 VIP plan — has triggered mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many questioning the affordability and describing it as exploitative.
