Clubs to Receive 60% of $7.5m Title Sponsorship Deal
Nigeria Premier Football League clubs are set to receive 60 percent of the league’s new $7.5 million title sponsorship deal, a move aimed at boosting players’ wages and welfare.

The three-year deal, worth $2.5 million per season, was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday, with EUROMATCH announced as the new title sponsor of the NPFL ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Disclosing the sharing formula at the unveiling, NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye said channeling the larger share directly to clubs will ensure commercial growth benefits the players.
“Let me announce to you that the deal is about $2.5m every season from EUROMATCH for three seasons. That is $7.5m,” Elegbeleye said. “That will help in increasing players’ wages. Of course, we don’t give the money to the clubs ourselves, but 60 per cent goes straight to the clubs. That is the agreement. This must be reflected in the welfare of the footballers.”
Elegbeleye stressed that players, not administrators, should be the face of the league, adding that improved earnings are key to making players happier and more productive.

Former Minister of Sports and Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, described the deal as proof that Nigeria’s sports-as-business policy is attracting investment. He noted that the $7.5m over three years is massive and commended the NPFL and clubs for embracing reforms over the last three years.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau also hailed the agreement as a major boost that will strengthen the NPFL and create more opportunities for clubs and players, while EUROMATCH GROUP Chairman Sadi Semih said the company sees it as a strategic investment in Nigerian football.

The deal comes as the league prepares for the 2026/27 season, with wider efforts to improve its finances and commercial value. The champions for the upcoming season are expected to receive a record N1bn prize, according to the National Sports Commission.
