Ogunsakin Wins Opening Qualifier at US Open Junior Championships
Nigeria’s tennis prodigy, Seun Ogunsakin, has started his 2026 US Open Junior Championships campaign on a strong note after winning his first qualifying match.

The Aurum Tennis Academy star cruised past Poland’s Tymon Litwic in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the final round of qualifying.

The 14-year-old will now battle Canada’s Felix Roussel for a place in the main draw.

Ogunsakin is featuring in his third consecutive Grand Slam tournament, having previously played at the Roland Garros Junior Championships and Wimbledon Juniors. Earlier this year, he made history by reaching the boys’ singles main draw at Wimbledon and the semi-finals of the doubles event.

The 2026 US Open Junior Championships will run from Sunday, September 6 to Saturday, September 12, with 64 players in the boys’ and girls’ singles draws.
