One Year After: BBNaija Star Phyna Mourns Late Sister Ruth Otabor
Former Big Brother Naija winner, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has marked one year since the death of her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, with an emotional tribute.

In a post shared on Instagram on Monday, August 31, 2026, Phyna said the pain of losing her sister still feels fresh, even 365 days later.

“It’s been exactly one year since I lost you, my sister, and honestly, I still don’t know how to put into words what your absence has done to me. One whole year without seeing you, hearing your voice, laughing with you, or simply knowing that you were somewhere in this world,” she wrote.

The reality TV star added that time has not healed the wound, noting that there are moments when the grief feels as intense as the day it happened.

“People say time heals, but sometimes I wonder if time really heals or if we just learn how to live with the pain. Because even after 365 days, there are moments when it still feels like yesterday,” she said.

Phyna also used the tribute to reiterate her call for justice, accusing the Dangote Group of abandoning the case. She alleged that her sister was killed by a Dangote Cement truck and that the driver responsible was underage and is still walking free.

“31-08-2025… Dangote Group killed my sister and never looked back,” she wrote. “One year today… Her case was swept under the carpet. The underage truck driver who killed her walks freely today.”

She further spoke about the deep bond they shared, saying she misses the memories and little moments only sisters would understand.

Phyna concluded her tribute with a promise to keep her sister’s memory alive: “Sleep peacefully, my beautiful sister. You are deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Until we meet again… I love you always.”

Ruth Otabor died in August 2025 after sustaining severe injuries in an accident involving a Dangote Cement truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. She reportedly lost a leg in the crash and later died from complications arising from the injuries.

Phyna had at the time accused the Dangote Group of mishandling the situation and demanded justice.
