PSG Turn Down Man City Bids For Super Falcons Star Jennifer Echegini
Paris Saint-Germain have rejected multiple bids from Manchester City for Nigerian international Jennifer Echegini, insisting the Super Falcons midfielder is not for sale.
According to BBC Sport, the French giants consider the 25-year-old a key part of their squad and are unwilling to let her leave despite her contract having just one year left to run.
Echegini, who spent most of her youth career in England, joined PSG two years ago from Italian side Juventus.
The midfielder played a crucial role in Nigeria’s triumph at last year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scoring the winning goal in the final against Morocco as the Super Falcons claimed a record 10th continental title.
Manchester City are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the new Women’s Super League season, with the transfer deadline set for Thursday. Their move for Echegini follows the news that star forward Vivianne Miedema will miss the start of the season with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, PSG are focused on their Women’s Champions League third-round qualifier against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
In a separate deal, PSG defender Elisa de Almeida is set to join Arsenal after both clubs agreed a fee of around £550,000. She is expected to feature against Frankfurt before travelling to London to complete the move.
