Lagos Nightlife Economy Soars to ₦2.9 Trillion in 2025
Lagos’ nightlife economy has nearly doubled in one year, hitting an estimated ₦2.9 trillion in 2025, up from ₦1.49 trillion recorded in 2024.
This is according to a new report by TAG by Oui Capital titled “Off the Charts: The Afrobeats Export Economy,” which highlights the massive economic impact of Afrobeats and Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The report shows that spending is no longer limited to concerts and music events alone, but now extends to hospitality, transportation, dining and tourism.
A major highlight of the report is the Detty December 2025 period, which generated a staggering ₦396.5 billion in just 55 days, proving how crucial the festive season is to Lagos’ economy.
Interestingly, the biggest earners were not ticketed events. While concerts and festivals generated an estimated ₦50 billion, walk-in spending at restaurants, bars, clubs and other nightlife spots accounted for ₦171 billion — more than three times the revenue from ticketed shows.
The report notes that the real Detty December money is not just in concert tickets, but also in Ubers and dinners.
Another key finding is the spending power of diaspora visitors. Although they made up only 11% of Detty December attendees, they accounted for 55% of total spending.
The report however notes that despite the rapid growth, there is still no official government system tracking the full value of Lagos’ nightlife economy, with current figures based on TAG’s proprietary field research and modelling.
