Ogun PDP Kicks Off Campaign for 2027 Presidential, NASS Elections
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has officially flagged off its campaign for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, urging residents to resist intimidation and defend their votes.

The flag-off ceremony was held at the Ake Pavilion, Alake’s Palace in Abeokuta.

Speaking at the event, the party’s governorship candidate and Chairman of the Campaign Committee for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections, Oladipupo Adebutu, charged party faithful and voters to be vigilant on election day.

Adebutu advised voters not to leave polling units immediately after casting their ballots, but to stay back, ensure their votes are properly counted and follow the process to collation centres.

He assured that the PDP would bring back better days for Nigerians if voted into power.

“I know the happy days are coming again in January. By the grace of God, the leader in Nigeria has asked me to say one prayer. The prayer is that we shall banish poverty,” Adebutu said.

He also called on supporters to remain loyal to the party and ensure their votes count.

In her remarks, the deputy governorship candidate, Mrs. Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, urged residents to come out en masse to vote for the PDP, noting that elections belong to the people.

“After voting don’t say that you are done and leave. Cast your vote and stay with it at the polling unit. Stand by your vote, follow them to the collation center. Do not be intimidated, the vote is for the people,” she said.

Also speaking, the senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, said her decision to return to the PDP after a brief stint in the All Progressives Congress (APC) was driven by her desire to restore the lost glory of her senatorial district. Obasanjo, who represented the district from 2007 to 2011, lamented that her achievements had been eroded.

Similarly, the House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Toyin Amuzu, said the PDP remains the only party with genuine concern for the welfare of the people. He promised qualitative representation if elected.

Earlier, supporters and residents staged a road walk across the three federal constituencies in Ogun Central Senatorial District to show support for PDP candidates ahead of the January polls.
