Lagos Gridlock: Passenger Confronts Police After Bus Takes One-Way to Beat Traffic

A mild drama unfolded in Lagos after a female passenger allegedly harassed a police officer who stopped their commercial bus for driving against traffic.

According to a video circulating on social media, the bus had taken a one-way route in a bid to escape the severe gridlock currently affecting Lagos and parts of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The action prompted police officers on duty to intercept the vehicle, which led to a heated confrontation between the officers and the passenger.

Reacting in the video, a male passenger was heard calling out the woman for her behaviour.

“How can you be molesting a police officer while they are doing their work?” he asked.

The incident comes amid serious traffic congestion on major Lagos routes. The gridlock was worsened by a multiple-vehicle crash at Kara Bridge on Tuesday and ongoing repair works, which left motorists stranded for over 14 hours and forced some drivers to drive against traffic.

The clip has since sparked reactions online, with many users condemning the passenger’s action while others blamed the driver for taking one-way.
