UK Court Confirms 5 Sexual Offence Charges Against Nigerian Dancer Poco Lee

Nigerian dancer and entertainer, Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has been formally charged with five sexual offences in the United Kingdom.

The charges were confirmed by the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London. According to court administrator James Baker, Poco Lee is facing one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape, and two counts of assault by penetration.

The court also confirmed that a strict reporting restriction has been placed on the case to protect the identity of the complainant, in line with the UK’s Sexual Offences Amendment Act 1992.

The alleged offences were said to have occurred in Tower Hamlets, East London, on July 23. Poco Lee had travelled to the UK earlier this month ahead of the Davido and Friends concert at Crystal Palace Bowl on August 14.

He first appeared before the Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 18, after which his case was transferred to the Crown Court. He remains in custody and is scheduled to return to Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Reports of his arrest first surfaced in mid-August after Benjamin Kuti, a Nigerian community leader in the UK known as Oluomo of Derby, confirmed that the entertainer was in custody.

In a statement released by his management, signed by Adedoyin Faleye, the public was urged to avoid treating the allegations as proof of guilt, stressing that the matter is still before the court.

Poco Lee remains presumed innocent until proven guilty by the court.
