B-Red Speaks On Why He Doesn’t Want His Father, Governor Adeleke, To Become President
Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has said he does not want his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to become President of Nigeria, even though he believes he would perform well in the role.

B-Red, who is a cousin to Afrobeats star Davido, made the remarks in a 2023 interview on the Echoroom podcast which resurfaced on social media this week. The renewed attention comes just days after Governor Adeleke secured a second term in office in the August 15 governorship election, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.

In the viral clip, B-Red said if his father becomes President, Nigeria will “improve drastically” because his family is not in politics for money.
“If my dad, Governor Ademola Adeleke, becomes President of Nigeria, things will improve drastically. We don’t need politics for money; we’ve been rich for a long time. But I don’t want him to be President because the pressure will be too much,” B-Red said.
The singer described his father as a man with “such a good heart” and expressed confidence that Nigeria would change in every aspect under his leadership. According to him, his father would focus on meeting the needs of the people rather than personal enrichment.

He also revealed that long before holding any public office, his father was already regarded as “the president of the family” for over a decade.

The Adeleke family has deep political roots in Osun State. Governor Adeleke’s late brother, Isiaka Adeleke, served as both governor and senator, while Ademola Adeleke himself was Senator representing Osun West before becoming governor in 2022.
