PDP Chieftain Chief Dan Orbih Dies at 64
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been thrown into mourning over the death of one of its prominent chieftains, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih.

Orbih, who was 64, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026 — just about two months before his 65th birthday. He was born on October 27, 1961.

His death was announced by his family in a statement on Monday. The statement, signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih on behalf of the family, said the news was received with “profound sadness and a heavy heart”.

The late politician was a well-known figure in the PDP and a close ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, two children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as his brothers, sisters and extended family members.

The family has appealed for prayers from friends and well-wishers during this difficult period, noting that funeral arrangements will be announced later.
“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss,” the statement said.

“Further details, including funeral arrangements, would be announced in due course.”
His passing is another major loss for the PDP where he was regarded as an influential stakeholder.
