Controversial social media commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has reacted to the viral incident involving former presidential candidate Peter Obi and some youths in Benue State.

Peter Obi was reportedly on his way to Yelewata in Guma LGA to commiserate with families affected by the June 2025 massacre when his convoy was blocked along Gboko Road near the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi by youths chanting “We don’t want Peter Obi.”

Reacting to the incident, VeryDarkMan said he was impressed that the Benue youths were able to come together to stand their ground, but questioned if they would display the same unity against insecurity in the state.

In his words: “Benue youths showed togetherness and composure to chase Peter Obi from their peaceful land. I am happy they stood their ground and also happy they can come together like that, I just hope when bandits and terrorists come around, they can do the same.”

The incident has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians condemning the obstruction while the Benue State Government has denied sponsoring the youths.
