Court Denies Bail for Odogwu Asaba as Trial Over Favour’s Death Continues
A court has denied the bail application filed by Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, in connection with the ongoing criminal case over the death of late Favour.

The development was made public on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, by Barr. Awele Ideal, the lawyer representing the deceased’s family.

According to Awele, who said she is handling the case on a pro bono basis, Odogwu Asaba’s legal team had filed the bail application about three weeks ago. Her office filed a counter-response, and the application was heard in court on Tuesday.

After hearing arguments, the judge declined to grant bail.

Following the ruling, Ifeanyi Ogbonna will remain remanded at the Ogwashi Uku Maximum Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.

Awele Ideal also reaffirmed her commitment to getting justice for late Favour, stating that her support goes beyond free legal services to include financial assistance to ensure the case is properly pursued.

In her statement, she wrote: “I still hold the brief of this case for late Favour’s family on Pro bono basis rendering my legal services and financial support to ensure that no stone is left unturned.”

She added the legal maxim “Fiat Justitia Ruat Caelum” — Let justice be done though the heavens fall — to underscore her resolve to see the case through to the end. She also promised to keep the public updated as the case progresses.
