Mr Macaroni Reveals Why He Stopped Criticizing Government: “I Was Receiving Threats”

Popular Nigerian skit maker and activist, Mr Macaroni has opened up on why he toned down his public commentary about the government.

Speaking about his experience as a social commentator, the entertainer disclosed that he was forced to step back after receiving numerous threats that also affected his family.

According to him, the threats became so serious that his family no longer felt safe.
“I stopped talking about the government because I was receiving so many threats, and my family wasn’t safe. My mom would call me crying that there is strange movements around the house. They wanted to fly me out, but I said, ‘No, I’m staying.'”
Mr Macaroni revealed that despite suggestions that he should leave the country for his safety, he insisted on staying back in Nigeria.

His statement has since triggered reactions on X (formerly Twitter), with many Nigerians expressing concern over the dangers faced by citizens who openly criticize those in power.
