BREAKING: NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, Board Members Resign
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has resigned from his position.

Gusau announced his resignation during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday. He was joined by several members of the NFF Executive Committee who also stepped down from their positions.

According to reports, the resignation follows mounting pressure on the federation’s leadership over the poor run of results by national teams. This includes the historic failure of the Super Falcons to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time, after losing 2-1 to South Africa in the playoffs, as well as the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The NFF leadership had also come under scrutiny over its management of the N17bn Federal Government intervention fund released in 2024 and allegations that board members influenced player invitations to the national team for financial gain.

Gusau’s exit comes just weeks before the NFF Elective Congress scheduled for September 27 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
