The Federal Government has stepped up plans to attract foreign direct investment into the Nigerian economy, assuring responsible investors of vast opportunities across critical sectors.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, stated this ahead of the maiden Nigeria Now Global Investors Expo 2026, scheduled for November in Abuja, which he described as a strategic platform to link bankable Nigerian projects with global capital.

Alake, who was represented by the Director General of the Mining Cadastre Office (MCO), Mr. Simon Nkom, said he accepted to serve as Patron of the expo because of its capacity to reposition Nigeria as a top investment destination.

He assured that the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development will work closely with the organisers to ensure the expo delivers concrete investment outcomes and deepens government-private sector collaboration.

According to the minister, the administration of President Bola Tinubu is driving reforms to diversify the economy beyond oil, with targeted interventions in mining, power, manufacturing, infrastructure, trade and investment.

He explained that the solid minerals sector is being transformed from mere export of raw minerals to value addition, local processing, manufacturing and job creation.

Alake stressed that Nigeria is looking for investors with patient capital, modern technology and technical expertise who will comply with Nigerian laws, protect host communities and adhere to environmental standards.

He noted that the expo will give investors direct access to viable projects, government policies, incentives and partnership opportunities, while also addressing investment challenges such as infrastructure, financing, licensing, technology, security and market access.

He added that the participation of ministries in charge of Industry, Trade and Investment, Power and Petroleum Resources reflects the Federal Government’s coordinated approach to development, while state governments will also showcase opportunities in their domains.

The minister urged organisers to focus on measurable results, saying the success of the expo should be judged by actual investments attracted and projects executed, not just attendance.

Earlier, the Portfolio Manager and Head of Corporate Development at EnergyNet, Abdullahi Sylla, said the Nigeria Now Global Investors Expo is designed to highlight ongoing economic reforms and present investment-ready projects to international investors.

Sylla said the event will convene development finance institutions, project developers, technology providers and investors across mining, energy, infrastructure and ports.

He added that the expo will also feature a Youth Energy Summit to drive innovation, job creation and youth inclusion in Nigeria’s economic transformation.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, represented by the Director of Mines and Environmental Compliance, Dr. Vivian Okono, called on the media to ensure accurate and professional reporting to build public confidence in the initiative.

The expo is expected to become a major platform for showcasing Nigeria’s investment potential and strengthening collaboration between government, local businesses and international investors.
