2027: Labour Party Candidate Promises 1000 Low-Cost Houses Per LGA, Unveils 8-Point Agenda in Akwa Ibom
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Michael Budh, has said his administration will prioritize low-cost housing across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state if elected in 2027.
Budh disclosed this during a live radio programme on XL 106.9 FM monitored in Uyo, where he unveiled his 8-point development agenda.
According to him, the agenda includes:
1. Housing for all 2. Care for elders and aged persons 3. Continuation of projects started by previous administrations 4. Instant payment of pension and gratuity 5. Security 6. Power 7. Economic relief / anti-over-taxation 8. Inclusive governance
He explained that his government will be people-centred and will serve all categories of persons irrespective of background, age or physical ability.
On housing, he said: “We will build low-cost 1000 housing units in every LGA across Akwa Ibom State. Shelter is a right, not a privilege.”
On welfare for senior citizens, the LP candidate promised to establish Education, Job and Relaxation Centres for the elderly to engage them productively and give them dignity in retirement.
He also vowed to complete all ongoing projects initiated by his predecessors to avoid wastage of public funds and to insulate citizens from over-taxation by subsidizing critical sectors of the economy.
To tackle insecurity, Budh said his administration would work with village heads, traditional rulers and village youth presidents to secure rural communities.
He added that his entire development blueprint will be encapsulated in an acronym that reflects the name of the state — Access, Knowledge, Wealth, Advancement, Industrialization, Business, Opportunities and Manpower (AKWA IBOM).
“We will ensure that pension and gratuity are paid on the same day a civil servant retires. Akwa Ibom people deserve a government that listens, delivers, and appreciates its citizens. That is the kind of leadership I am offering in 2027,” he said.
