Agent Demands More Respect for African Players Amid Sarr Transfer Talk
The representative of Senegal and Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr, Diomansy Kamara, has called for African footballers to be treated with more dignity and given a bigger say in their own career decisions.

Kamara, a former Senegal international himself, made the remarks while speaking on the situations of his clients Sarr and fellow Senegalese midfielder Lamine Camara. He said their cases should spark a broader conversation about how African players are handled in the transfer market.

According to him, there is a worrying trend where African players are viewed more as assets than as professionals with personal ambitions, with clubs fixing valuations and deciding futures without properly considering what the players want.

In a post shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X on Wednesday, Kamara stated:
“Our African players deserve respect. The respect of their work. The respect of their career. Respecting their ambitions. The respect of their voices.”
He argued that transfers should be about more than just negotiations between two clubs and financial figures.
“A transfer shouldn’t just be a matter of two clubs and numbers. Behind every contract, there’s a man, a career, dreams and life choices,” he said.
While admitting that clubs often have the final word under current football regulations, Kamara questioned whether players’ wishes are given enough weight, insisting that players must be heard and respected when decisions about their future are made.
“The player must be able to be heard and respected in the decisions that determine his future,” he added.
He concluded by reminding stakeholders in football of who is at the heart of the game’s success.
“Let’s never forget what’s important: behind every success, it’s the players who write history first.”
