Debbie Izamoje Okolie Speaks on Women’s Role in Africa’s Sports Industry at Kigali Forum

Chief Executive Officer of Brila Media Group, Debbie Izamoje Okolie, has joined key conversations on the contributions of women to Africa’s growing sports industry.

Okolie participated as a panellist at the ongoing SportsBiz Africa Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.

The third edition of the forum kicked off on Wednesday, September 9, at the Kigali Convention Centre. The event convened sports executives, investors, policymakers, federation officials and media professionals from across the continent.

She spoke on the panel session themed “Women Powering Africa’s Sports Economy,” which focused on women’s involvement in sports leadership, business, media and other segments of the industry.

The session highlighted both the opportunities and challenges for women across the sports value chain, including leadership, commercial growth, media representation, grassroots development and decision-making.

The opening day also featured a ministerial roundtable titled “The Link Between Business and Sport in Service of Africa’s Development,” which explored how sports can drive economic development in Africa.

This year’s forum, which runs until September 11, is also addressing sports business and investment, policy and governance, media and broadcasting, technology, talent development and esports.
