FG Graduates First Batch of CNG Conversion Experts in Borno

The Federal Government has graduated the first set of technicians trained to convert petrol-powered vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Borno State.

The two-week intensive training was organised by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) in partnership with indigenous firm, Jennymond System, as part of a nationwide programme to upskill auto mechanics and promote cheaper, cleaner energy alternatives.

Speaking at the closing ceremony in Maiduguri on Thursday, a representative of Jennymond System, Mr. Oloruntobi James, lauded President Bola Tinubu for the initiative, describing it as a sustainable economic opportunity for youths.

According to him, 50 mechanics drawn from the Borno State chapter of the Nigeria Automobile Technical Association (NATA) made up the first batch.

James urged the graduates to put their newly acquired skills to immediate use, transfer the knowledge to their colleagues, and get ready for the next phases of the programme as government approvals expand. He added that each graduate was equipped with a complete CNG conversion toolbox.

Reacting, one of the beneficiaries, Adamu Abdullahi, thanked the Federal and Borno State Governments for the opportunity, saying the hands-on training had broadened their expertise in dual-fuel systems that allow vehicles to switch seamlessly between petrol and CNG.
