FG To Launch $1 Billion Renewed Hope Social Protection Programme
The Federal Government has concluded plans to launch a $1 billion Renewed Hope Social Protection Programme to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship on poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the programme reflects the government’s renewed commitment to strengthening social protection and improving livelihoods.
According to the minister, First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will officially unveil the scheme. The initiative is designed to expand and better coordinate interventions for citizens facing economic and social vulnerabilities, moving beyond palliative measures to deliver sustainable impact.
A major highlight of the programme is the introduction of the One Humanitarian One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) — an integrated national framework that will link humanitarian response, social protection, poverty reduction, economic inclusion and graduation. Under the framework, households will be the central unit for intervention and measurement.
