Hannover 96 Eye Move for Victor Boniface
2. Bundesliga club Hannover 96 are weighing up a move for Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface as they look to bolster their attack before the transfer window closes.
According to German outlet Neupresse, the 25-year-old is one of several forwards on Hannover’s shortlist, in what could be a chance for the Nigerian to revive his career in Germany.

Boniface returned to Bayer Leverkusen this summer after a tough loan spell at Werder Bremen, where he went scoreless in 11 appearances in the 2025/26 season. That followed an injury-hit period at Leverkusen. He remains under contract with the Bundesliga side until June 2029.

Despite that, the striker has impressed in pre-season. He scored twice in four minutes in a 7-0 win over Sportfreunde Baumberg in July, featured in the 3-1 win over Kickers Offenbach, and came off the bench to net an 82nd-minute winner against Newcastle United on August 15.

Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has said Boniface is still building towards full 90-minute fitness, though his condition has improved. The forward has set a personal target of 20 goals for the 2026/27 season, but faces stiff competition from Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane.

A move to Hannover could depend on Leverkusen’s plans. His wages and long-term deal may make a permanent transfer difficult, with a loan seen as a more realistic option for all parties.
