Serie A: Adams, Chukwueze Set For Nigerian Battle As Venezia Face AC Milan At San Siro
Nigerian stars Akor Adams and Samuel Chukwueze will face off tonight when newly promoted Venezia travel to the San Siro to take on AC Milan in the opening game of Serie A Matchday 2 for the 2026/27 season.
The fixture at San Siro pits two Super Eagles forwards in contrasting roles.
For AC Milan, 27-year-old Samuel Chukwueze has been revitalized under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who has deployed him in a new wing-back role. The winger impressed in Milan’s 2-1 comeback win away at Torino on opening day, where goals from Alphadjo Cisse and Adrien Rabiot secured the three points. His pace and delivery from wide areas are again expected to be a key weapon for the Rossoneri.
For Venezia, Akor Adams arrives in Milan as the club’s record signing and in good form. The striker announced himself with a brace on his debut in Venezia’s 3-2 Coppa Italia victory over Modena.
However, Venezia’s return to top-flight football started on a sour note after a 2-0 home loss to Lecce in their league opener, a game manager Giovanni Stroppa felt was harsh after seeing two goals ruled out.
History favours the hosts. AC Milan have won their last five meetings against Venezia, keeping clean sheets in four of those games, and are tipped to continue their perfect start.
After the San Siro trip, Venezia will turn attention to the Coppa Italia Round of 32 against Udinese, where Adams could face another compatriot in Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.
