Olympique de Marseille boss is facing an anxious wait over the fitness of Nigerian midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi after the Super Eagles star picked up a knee injury.

Nnadi was forced off during Marseille’s 2-0 defeat to Monaco on Sunday. He came on at half-time to replace Himad Abdelli but lasted just 28 minutes before being substituted in the 74th minute after appearing to twist his knee.

Head coach Bruno Genesio confirmed the midfielder felt discomfort in his knee.
“Nnadi felt a twisting sensation in his knee,” Genesio said, as reported by La Minute OM.
The 21-year-old will undergo further medical tests to determine the severity of the injury, leaving his availability for Marseille’s upcoming Ligue 1 fixtures in doubt.

The setback comes at a crucial time for Nnadi, who has mostly featured as a substitute this season and is trying to establish himself in Genesio’s midfield, behind Abdelli and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Marseille had started the season with a 4-0 win over Strasbourg before Sunday’s loss to Monaco.
