New Music Friday: Seyi Vibez, Phyno & Blaqbonez Lead This Week’s Drops
It’s a New Music Friday packed with surprises as some of your faves switch up their sounds.

This week is all about artists stepping out of their comfort zones. Seyi Vibez and Phyno both traded their usual high-energy styles for more introspective, soulful records, while Blaqbonez delivered the most confident rap drop of the week.

Here’s what dropped:

1. Seyi Vibez – ‘Back 2 U’
The biggest switch-up this week. Known for his Fuji-infused street-pop and heavy Amapiano bounce, Seyi Vibez strips everything back on ‘Back 2 U’. It’s a slow, vocal-driven R&B record that actually feels genuine. If you follow him outside his usual lane, it pays off.

2. Blaqbonez – ‘Big Performer’
Produced by P.Priime, ‘Big Performer’ is Blaqbonez doing what he does best – pure swagger, sharp wordplay over an infectious Afrobeats backdrop. No overthinking, just clean execution.

3. Phyno – Emotional New Single
The most emotional release this week. Phyno ditches his trademark Igbo rap aggression for acoustic guitar loops, soft synths and a slow, meditative vibe as he opens up about loss. The vulnerability really suits him.

4. Zinoleesky – ‘Dantata’
Zinoleesky stays in his Afrobeats / street-pop bag, mixing modern electronic rhythms with traditional percussion. Solid production, but stays very safe.

5. Muyeez – Intro from ‘All Hail Muyeez’
From his debut album All Hail Muyeez, Muyeez samples Fela Kuti’s classic ‘Water No Get Enemy’, blending vintage Afrobeat with new-age Afro-fusion. Ambitious concept.

6. Perspe – Joeboy’s Young Legend ft. Warner Music Africa
Released under Joeboy’s Young Legend imprint in partnership with Warner Music Africa, ‘Perspe’ brings three distinct voices together over top-tier Afro-pop production. Great chemistry.

7. Cheque – ‘Timeless’
Cheque sticks to the melodic trap sound he’s owned since ‘Zoom’ (2020). Assured delivery and good production.

8. Nutty O x Fido – From ‘Different Route’
The most interesting cross-border link-up this week. Zimbabwe’s Nutty O teams up with Nigeria’s Fido on an Afro-dancehall cut off Nutty O’s album Different Route, produced by DJ Tamuka and Infinity Beats. Fresh.
