Nigeria Unveils 16-Player Squad for IHF Women’s Nations Trophy
Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Handball National Team, Michael Taangahar, has named his final 16-player squad for the maiden edition of the IHF Women’s Nations Trophy Africa Zone III.
The regional tournament is billed to hold from September 2 to 6, 2026, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The Nigerian team has been in intensive training camp for weeks at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
To round off preparations, the team will play a series of friendly matches in Benin Republic before departing for Burkina Faso.
Nigeria will begin its campaign against Ghana on Thursday, September 3, and then take on hosts Burkina Faso on Friday, September 4, in its second group game.

Bisi Oyewusi, Matthew Esther, Ahamefula Chinemerem, Sunday Hope, Ovetuo Rachael, Saaloo Daina, Audu Mercy, Emuore Enifome, Modebe Queen, Yusuf Toyin, Babatunde Taiwo, Ogbusimba Childera, Musa Sadiya, Nuhu Wuraola, Onyekwere Lucy and Muhammad Bilkisu.
Taangahar will be assisted by Innocent Chukwuma Nwankwo as the team aims for a strong outing in Ouagadougou.
