Nottingham Forest Sign Liam Delap from Chelsea in £50m Club-Record Deal
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of striker Liam Delap from Chelsea in a club-record deal worth £50 million.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the City Ground, just one season after joining Chelsea from Ipswich Town.

Delap endured a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge, scoring only one Premier League goal last season. He will now be hoping to revive his career at Forest and rediscover the form that made him one of the league’s most exciting young forwards.

The England youth international shot to prominence in the 2024/25 season with Ipswich, scoring 12 Premier League goals despite the club’s relegation after winning just four games. His physicality, pace and ability to carry the ball stood out — he led all Premier League strikers that season with 26 shot-ending carries.

That form convinced Chelsea to sign him for around £30m. Twelve months later, the Blues have made a reported £20m profit on his sale.

Speaking after completing the move, as quoted by BBC Sport on Thursday, Delap said: “This is a massive club with a big history. I spoke to the manager and I like his way. I think he can be the one to really help me develop and make that next step.”

At Forest, he will work under manager Oliver Glasner and will be expected to justify the club’s record investment.
