Osborn Nweze Umahi Sworn In as Ohaozara LGA Chairman
Engr. Osborn Nweze Umahi has been officially sworn in as the Executive Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Umahi, 28, took the oath of office on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, following his victory in the August 22 Ebonyi Local Government election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His inauguration marks his formal transition from business and professional life into full-time political leadership, with a campaign built around accountability, service delivery and measurable grassroots development.
The swearing-in ceremony drew several dignitaries, including his father, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who was present to witness the occasion.
Speaking after his emergence, the new chairman had pledged to usher in a new era of rapid development and effective governance in Ohaozara. Expectations are high that his administration will prioritise youth empowerment, economic expansion and improved infrastructure across the council.
His election was part of the APC’s sweep of all 13 chairmanship seats in the Ebonyi LG polls, as announced by the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC).
